Traditional Rim Lock goes digital

Traditional Yale digital lockTraditional Rim Lock goes digital!

Evolution occurs in every walk of life, even door locks. Rim locks have for decades remained pretty much unchanged, a solid reliable locking system with only one noticeable fault, “once you had slammed that door shut you had to be pretty certain that the key was in your pocket” because without the key there was no easy means of re entry other than forcibly. The problem was it did not need to be you who slammed the door, an unknowing child or even the wind, the result was the same, you were locked out. Rim locks were great for the peace of mind that a securely locked door gave, but only if you were in control of all of the other factors notably the whereabouts of the key.

If you were careful and or if you remembered and you knew that you were only leaving the house for moments you could flick the switch on the inside of your rim lock to ensure your door was latched and could not blow shut thereby saving yourself hours of heartache, but could we always rely on remembering to do this?

The Rim lock has evolved so that we can all have the security of the features of the original with the added benefit that it is almost impossible to lock yourself out as it is keyless. Gone is the key; in its place a touch screen keypad. So the new lock still provides that traditional convenience and additional security that there is no key to lose. Operated by a PIN number which you select (and advise only to those whom you want to enter) the stylishly designed key pad and lock operates in all other ways as the original rim lock.

The touch screen rim lock is available to all Composite Door Prices customers who choose this as an option when purchasing a Doorstop door.
